Difficulty Level: Easy-Intermediate

Materials needed to make all 3 toys:

  • Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran
Astronaut: Melon Sorbet, Misty Grey, Pale Dolphin Blue, and Champagne White
Rocket: Vintage Pink, Stormy Grey, Pale Lilac, Pansy Purple, and Champagne White
Alien: Lime Green, Vintage Pink, and Pure Black
  • 3.5mm Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Darning Needle
  • Locking Stitch Markers (Optional)
  • Pins
  • Polyfil Stuffing or Scrap Yarn
  • Felt Sheets for Details (Optional for Astronaut)
  • Fabric Glue (Optional for Astronaut)

I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran for all 3 patterns in the Space Explorer Collection, but you can use any cotton yarn as long as you correspond your hook to the weight of your yarn.

For the Astronaut, I used roughly 40g of Misty Grey (a little less than one skein of yarn), 18g of Dolphin Blue (< half a skein of yarn), 10g of Melon Sorbet (< 1), and 35g Champagne White.

For the Rocket, I used roughly 50g of Vintage Pink (about one skein of yarn), 85g of Stormy Grey (< 2 skeins of yarn), a little bit of Pale Lilac, a little bit of Pansy Purple, and a little bit of Champagne White for the window reflection.

For the Alien, I used roughly 20-25g of Lime Green (about half a skein of yarn), a little bit of Vintage Pink for the blush, and a little bit of Pure Black for the mouth.
