Happy Halloween, friends! While people have already moved on to making Christmas patterns, my Halloween loving self just couldn’t help it but put out one more Halloween amigurumi crochet pattern this year. Meet Frankenkitty and Pumpkitten!

I included the pattern for crocheted eyes below, but I prefer the look of the felt eyes more.
To make the felt eyes, cut out two 1-inch circles with Black felt and two 1.5-inch circles with Yellow felt. Glue the black circle onto the centre of the yellow circle and set the eyes aside for assembly. Using white wool roving and a felting needle, felt a small white circle onto the top left corner of the black part of the eyes.
Keep in mind that felting over dried glue is going to be a little bit more difficult. I personally don’t mind it, but if you’re having a hard time felting through the glued pieces, just felt it onto the black circles before you glue it together. Also, I recommend you make the eyes after you finish the head so that you can adjust the size of the eyes based on how big your cat’s head is.

Yarn I Used
I used WeCrochet Shine Sport Yarn for this ornament; however, you can use any yarn as long as you correspond your hook to the weight of your yarn.
For the Pumpkitten, I used 13g of Black, and a little bit of Sweet Potato (or Grapefruit), Dandelion, and Macaw. For the Frankenkitty, I used 12g of Green Apple, and a little bit of Crocus and Wallaby. Optional: White or Cream yarn for eyes.
Gauge
5 Round Circle = 1.5” with a 2.75mm hook
Note: If you are working with an x-stitch (yarn under single crochet), you will need to go up a couple hook sizes. I recommend 3.25mm.
Gauge isn’t super important for amigurumi, but I included it just in case you want to check your gauge. Being a little off should not affect the final product too much. You can learn more about how to measure gauge for amigurumi here!

Assembly
- For the crocheted eyes: Pin the eyes onto the head, with the top of the eyes starting at round 7 and leave a 2-stitch space between the eyes. Sew the eyes in place.
- For the felt eyes: Dab some glue onto the back of the eyes and glue it onto the face, making sure that the top of the eyes start at round 7 and leave a 2-stitch space between the eyes. Allow the glue to dry.

- If you’re making the Pumpkitten, pin the pumpkin onto the top of the head and sew in place.

- With Dandelion yarn, embroider 6 lines onto the pumpkin, dividing the pumpkin up like a pie.
- Pin the ears onto the top of the head with the top of the ears starting at around round 3 of the head. Check the position of the ears by looking at it from top down. Sew the ears in place.
- If you haven’t already, with white wool roving and a felting needle, felt a small white circle onto the top left area of each pupil (the black part of the eyes). *See notes in the Introduction.

- For the crocheted eyes, you can either felt a white circle in or embroider in a small line with white yarn.
- If you’re making Frankenkitty, pin the Nails onto the side of the Head, roughly 3 rounds below the Ears. Sew them in place.
- With the secondary colour yarn (Crocus for Frankenkitty, Sweet Potato for Pumpkitten), embroider a small nose in by sewing in a line and stitching over the line a couple times. Insert your needle under the nose and wiggle your needle side to side to make the nose puff out a bit.
- For Frankenkitty, use Black embroidery thread to embroider in the eyebrows above the eyes, an inverted V-shape mouth one round below the nose, some lines where the Crocus coloured ear meets the head, and some scars randomly around the face.
- For Pumpkitten, use White embroidery thread to embroider in an inverted V-shaped mouth one round below the nose and 3 lines onto each cheek.
- To make them into ornaments, just string a piece of yarn through the top and tie a knot to create a loop.
