Hey guys! It’s been a minute, eh? I honestly feel like I have been hibernating for all of February, but really it’s because I have been working on some amigurumi crochet videos for my Resources page. I have been wanting to create video tutorials for a while because I feel like it could help my readers (you!) elevate their amigurumi projects. So if you’re interested, please check out the Resources page (find it under Help in the main menu)!
Anyway, now that I have the Resources page set up, I’m back to creating new crochet patterns! Wooo!!! I’m legitimately SO happy to be writing patterns again after a month-long hiatus.
Meet Allen the Alien! He is a part of my Space Explorer Amigurumi Collection (full collection coming soon) and I am obsessed with him! I love how friendly he looks even though he isn’t really smiling. His underbite/large chin also reminds me of my husband (LOL) so I’m very fond of this little guy.

Gauge
5 Round Circle = 2” with a 3.5mm hook
Gauge isn’t super important for amigurumi, but I included it just in case you want to check your gauge. Being a little off should not affect the end product too much. You can learn more about how to measure gauge for amigurumi here!

Yarn I Used
I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran for this toy; however, you can use any cotton yarn as long as you correspond your hook to the weight of your yarn. For this pattern, I used roughly 20-25g of Lime Green (about half a skein of yarn), a little bit of Vintage Pink for the blush, and a little bit of Pure Black for the mouth.
Free Allen the Space Alien Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
Allen the Alien is very easy to make. If you’re an experienced crocheter, you can probably make him in roughly an hour. He measures to be about 5 inches (12.5 cm) tall when you do not include his antennae.
This pattern is written in US crochet terminology.

Assembling the Alien Together:
- Pin the Body onto the Head and sew in place.
- Pin the Antennae onto the top of the Head and sew in place. You can play around with the positioning of the antennae; mine starts at Row 2 from the top of the head.
- Pin the Arms onto the sides of the Body and sew in place, making sure the “thumbs” are pointing forward.
- With Vintage Pink yarn, embroider two short lines under the eyes for blush.
- With Pure Black yarn, embroider a short line between the eyes to create a mouth. You can play with the positioning or shape of the mouth. I chose to place my line one row below the bottom of the eyes.

Where is astronauts pattern
Hi there Terri, you can find the astronaut pattern in the shop!
Hello Abby, love the pattern. What size eyes are you using? Thank you!
Hi Kerris,
Oops, my bad! I used 10mm eyes for him! Sorry about that.
Im not undeRstandinG step 1 in the alien body section. Is there any way you could help me with it, or clarify?
Sent you a msg on IG!
I had trouble attaching the body to the legs because I could not really understand that part, could you possible post a picture of that part. I muddled through, it turned out playing 🙂
Hi there!
You’ll be able to see how I attach the legs to create the body in my Nurse Cat tutorial here: https://youtu.be/jTTOz-Pmcuk
It’s not the exact pattern, but hopefully the video will give you a better idea of how the attachment works.
Abby
Hi, I thank you very much for letting a free acces to some pattern, I like your Alien pattern I think it will be very cute when I’ll be able to finish it.
Just so you know it was difficult (at least for me ) to understand row 2 of the alien body part.
It’s written (9sc, (inc) x2 ) x2 (26) you may write (9sc, 2inc) x2 instead (26) it’s much easier to read. (At first I tought one of the x2 was an error and since we write 9sc then why not write 2inc.)
Hi Nyaavim,
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually implemented that in the newer patterns, but just don’t have time to edit the older patterns for now. Glad you were able to figure it out though!
Abby
